NFC business cards

Learn everything you need about NFC business cards and how to turn your Lynkle digital business card into a free NFC card in seconds - all you need is an NFC tag.

What is an NFC business card?

An NFC business card is a contactless digital alternative to the conventional paper business card. Using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, these cards allow you to share your contact information by simply tapping the card on an NFC-enabled device, for example a smartphone. You may have already used NFC technology for other usecases, such as making payments via Apple Pay or Google Pay.

How do NFC business cards work?

NFC business cards function through a wireless data exchange protocol. When someone taps your NFC card to their NFC-enabled smartphone, the embedded chip transmits data over a short distance (usually less than 4cm or 1.5 inches). In the context of digital business cards, this data is usually a link to a webpage which contains the information you want to share; including: your name, job title, company information, phone numbers, email addresses, social media profile links, and more.

Are NFC business cards secure?

NFC technology is generally considered to be secure due to its short communication range, reducing the risk of unauthorized access. However, there are some privacy considerations that should keep in mind. We recommend reading our post about the privacy concerns with NFC business cards and how we address them at Lynkle.

How can I make an NFC business card?

You can create an NFC business card from your Lynkle card in a few simple steps!

1

Create a free Lynkle digital business card. First, sign up and create a free Lynkle digital business card if you still need to do so.

2

Buy an NFC tag or card that suits your needs best. Lynkle is comptabile with all NTAG215 NFC tags.

3

Download the free NFC Tools app. The NFC Tools app will be used to write your Lynkle card link to the newly purchased NFC tag or card. Find it on the Google Play or Apple App Store .

4

Write your Lynkle card link to the NFC tag.  Open the NFC Tools app. Navigate to "Write" → "Add a record" → "URL / URI". In the textbox, type lynkle.com/your_card_handle, for example lynkle.com/emily, then tap OK. Tap "Write / Bytes" and once the "Ready to Scan" scanning sheet appears, hold your smartphone near the NFC tag until you get a confirmation that the link is written to the NFC tag you purchased in step 2. And you're all set.

Does Lynkle sell physical NFC business cards?

Lynkle does not sell physical NFC business cards because we believe it's unfair to charge high prices for something readily available at a low cost on sites like Amazon. We also believe that offering physical cards conflicts with our commitment to being 100% paper-free. While we can't share specifics yet, we're working on delivering the convenience of NFC technology directly to users' smartphones, all while ensuring the highest standards of privacy.
