NFC

NFC (Near Field Communication) gives you two ways to share your Lynkle card. Tap to Share from Android uses your phone itself, so a physical NFC product is optional. You can also pair your card with a compatible third-party NFC card or tag.

Lynkle does not manufacture or sell physical NFC products. Recipients open your card in their browser and do not need Lynkle installed, whichever NFC sharing option you use.

Tap to Share from Android

Tap to Share requires a Lynkle Pro or Teams subscription. It uses your Android phone's built-in NFC hardware to send your card to another NFC-enabled phone.

Pairing a compatible physical NFC card or tag is a separate option and does not use Tap to Share.

  1. Open your Cards screen

    In the Lynkle Android app, go to Cards and find the card you want to share.

  2. Start Tap to Share

    Tap Tap below the card. Lynkle prepares your card for NFC sharing.

  3. Hold the phones together

    Hold the NFC areas of the two phones together until Lynkle confirms that the card was shared.

The recipient opens your card in their browser and does not need the Lynkle app.

Tap to Share is also available with Lynkle Pro or Teams in the Lynkle iOS app only in the European Economic Area.

Pairing your card with a physical NFC card or tag

A compatible physical NFC card or tag is a free sharing option that is separate from in-app Tap to Share. Pairing writes your Lynkle card URL to third-party hardware as a one-time setup. When someone taps the hardware with their phone, your Lynkle card opens in their browser.

Since the physical card or tag links to your Lynkle card, updates to your details appear immediately. You do not need to pair the hardware again when your card changes.

Using the Lynkle app on iPhone or Android

The Lynkle iOS app and Lynkle Android app both include the Pair with NFC tag workflow.

  1. Open the Lynkle app

    Go to your cards list.

  2. Tap the menu on your card

    Tap More actions (the three-dot button) below the card you want to pair.

  3. Tap Pair with NFC tag

    Select Pair with NFC tag from the menu.

  4. Hold your phone near the tag

    When prompted, hold your phone near the compatible, writable NFC card or tag. Keep it there until Lynkle confirms the write.

Using a third-party NFC writing app

If you prefer a different tool, you can use a third-party NFC writing app to write your card URL to compatible hardware.

  1. Copy your card link

    Open your cards dashboard and copy your card link. Your card URL looks like lynkle.com/yourname.

  2. Open your NFC writing app

    Open your preferred NFC writing app on your phone.

  3. Create a URL record

    Add a new URL record and paste your Lynkle card link.

  4. Write to the tag

    Hold your phone near the NFC tag and write the record.

Choosing a physical NFC card or tag

Choose a compatible third-party NFC card or tag that can store a URL. Consider:

  • Form factor: Choose a card, sticker, keychain, or another format that suits how you plan to share.
  • Writable vs. read-only: Make sure the hardware is writable. Some pre-programmed products are locked and cannot be overwritten.
  • URL support: Check that the product supports writing an NDEF URL record.

You do not need a specific brand or vendor. Lynkle does not sell or endorse physical NFC products.

Tips for sharing with NFC

  • Follow the phone's prompt: NFC antenna locations vary. Move the phones or hardware slightly if the first attempt does not connect.
  • Keep devices steady: Hold them in place until Lynkle or the recipient's phone confirms the action.
  • Pair multiple tags: You can write the same card URL to multiple compatible cards or tags.

Tracking NFC taps

Every time someone taps your NFC tag and opens your card, the visit is tracked in your card insights. NFC taps appear as a separate traffic source, so you can see how often your tag is being used.

NFC tap tracking works automatically when you pair physical hardware using the Lynkle app. If you use a third-party writing app, write the full card URL, including any tracking parameters, for accurate source attribution.

Private cards and NFC

Physical NFC cards and tags are not compatible with private card sharing. Private cards use links that Lynkle refreshes automatically, but a URL written to physical hardware cannot update itself.

In-app Tap to Share can use Lynkle's refreshed private link, so you can still share a private card directly from the Lynkle app. To pair your card with physical NFC hardware, turn off private card sharing first.
